Jake Mazursky, a drug dealer, fails to pay his debt to Johnny Truelove, which leads to tension and a territorial battle in San Fernando Valley. In a hasty decision, Johnny and his gang kidnap Jake's 15-year-old brother Zack. As they continue their journey in Palm Springs, they decide to keep Zack as a hostage, but eventually, they involve him in their daily activities. Zack starts enjoying the summer fantasy he always dreamed of, filled with alcohol, girls, and new experiences. The gang overlooks the fact that Zack is a stolen child and they can't simply return him. With each passing hour, solutions to the problem become less significant, and they make increasingly terrible decisions. Meanwhile, Johnny's father begins to uncover his son's actions and realizes the kidnapping situation. As Zack's distraught mother goes to the police, the situation becomes even more complicated. Johnny, who has always imitated and deceived everyone with his gang leader persona, finds himself in the middle of a dangerous adventure with real and terrifying consequences. He realizes the magnitude of the danger, but it's too late.
